May You Have A Safe and Pleasant Flight
Whether you will take a short or long air travel, there are several things to consider which you can ensure a safe, smooth and convenient flight for yourself. The followings are some tips to make your air travel more convenient and smooth.
- Select your seat before you fly
The worst thing is to arrive at the airport where they only have a middle seat and you like to have a window seat. So try to book the seat online because nowadays almost each airline has its website whereby you can get online seating chart to choose from when you book your flight.
- Discuss your meal options before you fly
If you are a vegetarian or have your own special dietary needs, you should talk with your travel booking agent so that the airlines could make some adjustments. Some airlines also have the option whereby you can state your personal menu requirements online at the time of booking.
- Bring your own snack food
If you carry your own snack food with yourself it would suit you in case you don’t favor the snacks provided on board.
- Enough water to avoid dehydration
If you have your water along with you it would be great to re-hydrate yourself on a flight. Nowadays, there is restriction to carry liquids more than 100ml on board, especially for International flights. If it is the case, you can bring an empty bottle instead then fill the bottle with water served once you are on board.
- Try to stretch and move your legs in the cabin
Simple exercises will help to relieve the tiredness and stiffness associated with flying for hours. These exercises include:
- sit up straight – sit tall in your seat to avoid compressing your spine
- shoulder circles – bring your shoulders up towards your ears, then circle back downwards,
- ankle circles – place the pillow under your thigh, just above the knee, and keep your weight even as you circle your foot around, keeping the whole foot as still as possible
- neck rolls – sit back in your seat and flatten the headrest, then gently and slowly roll your neck to one side, then back through the center towards the other side.
- Neck pillow for air travel
If you have a long flight, it is better to bring a neck travel pillow with you. Choose an orthopedic travel neck pillows (inflatable or cushion pillows) for supporting the head and neck while you are sleeping in sitting position to get a comfortable sleep on board.
- See for yourself
If you are wearing contact lenses then it would be better if you wear glasses while in the flight as your eyes will dry out and become red because of the altitude.
- Take your shoes off
Your feet shall swell during the flight and as such it would be great if you give them freedom and room but you should not take off the socks unless you get some feedback from the cabin.
- One tag at a time
You should not leave your previous flight baggage tags on your baggage.
- Wear comfortable clothing
You should wear comfortable clothes and the best suggestion would be a t-shirt, comfortable loose pants and a warm jacket.
- You can even bring some games or books
It might be possible that there is no movie or music arrangement in the flight and as such it would be in your favor if you bring some entertaining games or favorite books with you to kill the time.
